Pig producer donates face masks following PPE appeal

A Norfolk hospital has received 500 fluid-repellent face masks after a local pig producer donated its surplus supplies.
Tulip, which has a site in King’s Lynn, responded to a countywide appeal for businesses to manufacture or supply urgently needed personal protective equipment (PPE) for those working in vital services.
The business offered to donate its surplus masks to support frontline workers and they were delivered to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn by Andy Shepherdson, Site Director at Tulip King’s Lynn.
Mike Wijnberg, Group Technical Director at Tulip, said: “We’re humbled by the incredible work of frontline NHS staff and we’re pleased that we can do our bit to help them where we can. We’re working closely with local charities and health care providers and charities to see where we can offer support with supplies, equipment and food.
“We’re taking all the necessary steps in order to protect our people and maintain our supply chain so that we can continue to deliver food to the nation. We’re immensely proud of the role our people have played in the current climate and would like to thank them for their hard work.”
Chris Starkie, Chief Executive of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’d like to thank Tulip for their donation, which will be vital for front line health workers. It has been great to see the business community come together and I’ve no doubt that our local firms will continue to do all they can to support this appeal.”
